Kwekerij Amaranth is a tulip nursery specialising in growing excellent quality tulips. The company was founded more than 50 years ago, by the parents of now owner Maurits Koeman. Maurits has been actively involved since childhood. Over the years, Amaranth has accumulated a lot of knowledge, thanks in part to the progressive approach of Maurits his father in trials related to preservation, rooting, and other essential processes. This expertise, combined with the commitment of a permanent team of passionate staff, enables Amaranth to breed the tulips with utmost care and attention.
Sustainable & year round tulips
Every year, Kwekerij Amaranth cultivates as many as 10 million tulips in its 4,000 m² greenhouses. The bulbs are sourced from a carefully selected group of reliable suppliers, ensuring the consistent quality of the products. In 2023, the nursery took an innovative step by starting to force tulips during the summer, with the goal of being able to supply tulips year-round in the near future.
In 2024, the sustainability project was successfully completed. The greenhouses are now optimally insulated, and a high-efficiency boiler has been installed, reducing energy consumption by as much as 50%. This not only guarantees the exceptional quality of the tulips but also reflects the nursery’s commitment to actively contributing to a more sustainable future.
