PEONY FLOWER OF THE MONTH
The Flower Agenda presents Peony [botanical: Paeonia] as Flower of the Month from week 20 until week 22. You, your customers and consumers can read all about this sparkling flower that brings the sun into your home. Enjoy the charms of this beautiful bloomer for the next weeks.
Here in Europe are enjoying the splendour of the Peony already since 1784. In China the history goes even further back. In the Orient Peonies were not only cultivated for the flowers, but mostly for the roots. These would, according to the Chinese, be fever-reducing and styptic medicines.
HAPPY LIFE STYLE TREND
New images of every flower in the Flower Agenda have been produced in line with the Green Sector Trends 2015. This is a translation of the latest consumer trends focused specifically on the horticulture sector, both indoors and outdoors. There are three separate style trends: Unexpected Wild, Eco Luxe and The Happy Life. Each flower in the Flower Agenda has been photographed in the most appropriate style. For the Peony this is the Happy Life style trend.
COLOURS AND SHAPES
Anyone whose heart has been captured by the charms of the Peony is in luck: there are at least a thousand Peony varieties, in all sorts of shapes and colours. So there’s plenty of choice! There are some with a single row of petals, or with semi-double and double flowers. Everyone can also indulge themselves in terms of colour: the Peony comes in sunny yellow, romantic white, soft pink or fiery red.
YOUR PEONY BUYER
This is Colin Star, our Peony buyer. Colin has started looking for this year’s best Peonies already long time ago. He knows every week exactly which varieties are at their best and which growers have the top quality that you are looking for. Due to the weather the harvest was a few weeks later than the growers expected. This means that also the Peony season is delayed by about three weeks. But right now we have full availability, so do check our webshop or ask your vendor at OZ Export.

A beautiful flower naturally comes with beautiful symbolism. The Peony therefore represents love, happiness and health.
Please pass the following tips to your customers to let them fully enjoy their Peonies.
• Cut five centimeters of the stem with a sharp knife.
• Use a clean vase and fill it with fresh water.
• Are the Peonies thirsty? Re-fill the vase occasionally.
• Do not place the vase in a draft place, in direct sunlight or next to a fruit bowl.
