NEW TRENDS AT CNB IN-HOUSE SHOW
This week OZ Export visited the bulb flower show at CNB. During this show we experienced the new trends for 2016, we saw new bulb grown flowers and, of course, we have met our business relations.
THE FLOWER SHOW
On one side of the showroom we walked through a lane filled with breathtaking Liliums. The scent of the Orientals welcomed us already in the parking garage below the building! It is very impressive to see how big their flowers can get! Some of the displayed Lilies were bigger than your two hands combined!
After that we walked through a breeding show for Tulips. We found great new flowers, but also good replacements for some older species. At the end we enjoyed the third part of the show: the beautiful arrangements with new Narcissus, Hyacinths and Muscari Botryoides.
This year we have a few trends that will give the floral industry a new tougher look and feel. Industrial, metallic, sturdy and craft; these are the prominent 2016 trends we saw at the show. Great and creative use of unconventional materials like tyres, iron, wood and a lot more. The arrangements were made by students from the Clusius College for their Flower & Design course.
RESULT OF THE JUDGES
Royal General Bulb Growers’ Association (KAVB) judged the entries and spoke of an extraordinary sparkling and transparent accrued flower show.
• Best Oriental Lilium: Signum Zanlorsig by Royal van Zanten.
• Best OT Lilium: Maldano by Marklily.
• Best cutflower Hyacinthus Purple Star by E. de Groot.
• The winner of the large collection Helleborus flower is the Double Ellen by De Nachtvlinder.
• There was no judging category for the Tulips because this part of the event was a breeding show, so they are not inspected by the KAVB.
Please enjoy our small photo report of the wonderful CNB experience. We hope it will give you as much inspiration as it had given us. Would you like to know more please contact us. Or take a look into our webshop. We have some really nice Tulips for special prices.Back to overview
