ORCHID A CLASSY AND ELEGANT BEAUTY
The Dutch Flower Council’s initiative Flower Agenda will focus on the classy Orchid from week 45 to week 48. Your customers will be able to read all about this elegant beauty which symbolises pure friendship. Will you help your customers to enjoy this colourful flower’s many styling possibilities over the coming weeks?
Orchids have many secrets. Nobody can really say how old this second-largest family of plants in the world actually is. What we do know is that the fabulous colours and shapes of the Orchid originate from the tropical rainforests, where the various species grow in trees and on rocks. The Orchids that customers can now buy in your shop have been developed from these natural species.
COLOURS AND SHAPES
Whatever the required style might be, the Orchid will always fit in. There are more than 25,000 species. The flower comes in a range of impressive colours, from powder pastels to candy pink or zen white. There’s even a tiger print. In your bouquets opt for the butterfly-like Phalaenopsis, the vampy Vanda, the slender Cymbidium or ‚Venus slipper‘ Paphiopedilum (pronounced pa-fee-o-ped-il-um). They’re all as beautiful as their names suggest.
OZ Export offers you a wide variety of Orchids: Cymbidium, Vanda, Phalaenopsis and the Dendrobium. All available in different sizes and colours. Order now in our easy to use webshop or ask your vendor.
CARE TIPS FOR CONSUMERS
Help your customers to enjoy their Orchids for a long time by giving them the following tips.
• Cut 1 cm off the stem and place the orchid in clean water.
• Repeat this every five days.
• Do not use any cut flower food.
• Do not touch the flower’s delicate interior; this will avoid rapid wilting.
• Keep the flower away from direct sunlight, central heating and the fruit bowl
HOW TO MAKE AN ORCHID BOUQUET
You can use the stylish Orchid in many ways. Opt for an imposing large bouquet made of Orchids, Cymbidium and Salix. Or choose a refined arrangement with a natural look by combining Orchids with Roses, Calla and Salix. If your customer wants to make a sunny statement, create the yellow bouquet in the photo using Orchids, red Salix, Calla and Hypericum and Waxflower.
The Orchid represents pure friendship. When Brazilians give it as a gift, they give a kiss for each flower. Alongside kisses and flowers, an Orchid is also a gift with style – the Orchid was First Lady Jackie Kennedy’s favourite flower. So wherever there’s an Orchid, a style icon is never far away.
