SPOOKY HALLOWEEN BOUQUETS
Halloween [31 October] is becoming more popular in Europe year after year and what is a great Halloween party without some spooky flowers?!
THE ROOTS OF HALLOWEEN
Halloween is the eve of the Western Christian feast All Hallow’s Day and Reformation Day. It’s about remembering the dead, including saints (hallows). Some believe it’s many traditions orginated from Celtic Harvest festivals that have many pagan roots. Halloween nowadays is all about pumpkin carving, trick-or-treating, scary costume parties, bonfires, apple bobbing, scary movies or stories and visting haunted theme-parks.
TOP 3 HALLOWEEN FLOWERS
This plant is robust and solid, she has striking flowers. The colour varies from a silver grey (great for scaring of those werewolves!) to dark night sky blue. The spiky leaves give this cut-flower a very spooky attraction.
2# Viburnum berries (Snowball)
These beautiful dark blue berries are almost black, very mysterious!
3# Euphorbia fulgens
No this is not another Harry Potter spell! This flower is also know as wolf’s milk. The botanical names is derived from Euphorbus, an ancient phycian who used the milky (poisonous!) juice as medicine. Pretty scary right?!
BOUQUET INSPIRATIONS FOR YOUR HALLOWEEN PARTY
From violet to bood red… The intense colours of Autumn and the matching seasonal flowers can make you long for Halloween. So we decided to have some pre-party fun and show you some awesome inspiration by 365 Days of flowers!
Combine berries and thistles with each other and create beautiful and blood-curdling flower arrangements. The spiky Eryngium goes well with the dark berries of the Viburnum. Orange Asclepias are the perfect match for pumpkins with carved-out scary faces. Display your arrangement during events in a dramatic setting by adding a smoke machine. Like to go for a more subtle effect? Perhaps a smoke machines is a bit much for the shop? Just add some orange pumpkins and cobwebs.
Perhaps a little less scary bouquet is more your style? Enjoy all the beautiful flowers that Fall has to offer you. Get yourself some acorn cups, Euphobia Fulgens, red hot poker, Anigozanthos and berries (Ilex Verticillata). Add Delphinium for a hint of late Summer. Then you use the acorn cups to decorate your vase. Arrange all the flowers and greens in your decorated vase, add some woollen thread and pom-poms. You’ll have a show-stopping bouquet for a great window display in your shop!
