USE THE TRENDS IN YOUR OWN SHOP TO MAKE CONVERSATION
Style trends can be used as a social dialogue. It expresses ideals of a generation and what they stand for. Just like in your shop, you can use the trends in your own way to differentiate yourself from all the other stores. Inspire you customer to give their bouquets another twist!
IDENTIFYING THE THREE FLORAL TRENDS FOR 2018
The trends are designed to encourage the media to highlight these trends to consumers. The trends can also be used within the sector when making decisions about communication, promotion, purchasing and during product innovation.
These trends are based on the current Zeitgeist: a search for new answers, because old structures have lost their power. As well as the social dilemma we’re in. A society that’s becoming more hardened. Yet, we are also continuously on the hunt of being more connected and having more harmony.
This is translated into the 2018’s floral style trends:
- Punk Rebooted
- Romance 3.0
FLORAL TREND #1 PUNK REBOOTED
This style trend is about power, freedom and rules. Every day we obey the rules, but we don’t always like to honour them. That’s why, at times, we make our own rules. Which makes us rebellious and unsettled.
Punk-Rebooted in the interior
In interiors this trend leads to rugged indoor spaces with an anarchistic look. Products with sharp shapes and rough industrial materials are made up of parts of other products, giving them a recycled feel.
Colour Palette PUNK REBOOTED
Think of contrasting colours. Lots of black, with red as the statement colour. Green, beige and skin tones soften the vivid contrast.
Rebellious FLORAL DESIGN
Flowers and plants are also used in an unorthodox way. Existing rules about use and application are irrelevant.
TREND #2 RE-ASSEMBLE
This style trend focuses on the creative combination of new and old elements. Creativity is a definite must for this trend, but that won’t be so hard for someone working in the flower industry. All the different products, shapes, colours and materials lead to a great contrast to form a playful look.
An explosion of creativity gives rise to a fresh new language of shapes. Unforced and easy. You can combine or replace everything. Every time, you can achieve a different en playful look.
Materials are both new and recycled. Alongside plastics there are natural materials like, paper, cardboard and recycled sheet material. In the garden recycled materials reinforce the nonchalant feel. You can combine all materials and colours easily. Turn your designs into an unforced and dynamic look, that reflects on the society. You can change the overall look easily by replacing individual elements.
Colour Palette RE-Assemble
The colour palette is also diverse: bright, pastel, natural and faded. The variety of greens in the colour chart particular apply to living greenery.
DYNAMIC FLORAL DESIGN
You can use shapes at random, try to varied. It should appear like their accidentally stuck together, stacked or merged. This create a collage-like effect. Try to mix different floral shapes and match them together in your bouquet or arrangement.
TREND #3 ROMANCE 3.0
This style trend is a combination of the recovering economy and the digital bubble we’re in. Our view on the world appears magnified, because nowadays we surround ourselves more and more with people and opinions that are the same as ours. Everything is amplified, that’s why the materials are like that too. Which leads to a style trend with a luxurious look-and-feel and rich colours.
In the interior we combine warm colours with patterns. Everything is inspired by flowers; fashion, wallpaper and other designs. Combinations of rich materials give a decadent appearance.
Colour Palette ROMANCE 3.0
The colours are and rich. Both pastels and intensive darker shades match this trend. Purple makes a comeback in the interior. It is no surprise that purple is popular, PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet is the colour of the year 2018.
ROMANTIC FLORAL DESIGN
Gorgeous flower combinations with an exotic appearance. Warm colour combinations, full bouquets and large flower shapes fit the Romance 3.0 trend perfectly. Arrangements appear to merge into the background, so that the wallpaper pattern fights with the flowers placed in front of it for attention.
